I'm making a list.

I'm a massive fan of list making. When I'm feeling a bit flustered or overwhelmed, writing a list of 'to do's' over a cup of tea, always puts things into perspective- whether that be 'ah shit...should have started this sooner' or 'phew...not as bad as I thought'.

With a crazy fortnight of dance performance and market prep ahead, I thought its time I get organised and up to date with product. Here is a list of what I need/want to make for the next market (in 2 weeks)...

  • pillow case dresses x 8
  • peg magnet sets x 10
  • dry boards x 4
  • thumb tack sets x 4
  • bibs x 8
  • button magnet sets x 8
  • bookmarks x 6
  • earrings x 12
  • headbands x 10
  • hair ties x 20
  • hair pins x 15
  • tea cup candles x 5
  • glassware candles x 5
  • fabric wall hoop sets x 3
AHHHH SHIT!!!

I'm off to turn these

Into these.

Stay cute.

Look what I found.

So I've been trawling the local oppies this week to hunt down the 'need to gets' for my next market and came home with more 'ohh that's pretty'.....really, how many doilies and vases do I need want?!

I should mention, some things were collected over the past month but this week has proven to be very fruitful...have a look see.

My stash of, crotchet & embroidered, doilies & hankies.

Soon to be Tea Cup candles for the November Market.

Love at first site! Total bargain too..$4 each necklace!

Pillowcase dresses in the waiting....love the yellow one!!

Candle sticks and vintage china for new 'frankie gusti.' products...pics coming soon!

I've been burning laps in the same op shops for the past few months & have become a bit of a regular.
The 'vintage' shop assistants have been so kind as to put things aside for me till I come in and are always so interested in what I'll be doing with my buys...they then proceed to tell me how 'back when I was a young girl...', or tell me a story about 'Beryl's neighbours cat' or offer to knit me a toilet roll cover...bless them!

Stay cute.

Whats the (re)purpose?

I've been hitting the Op shops this week and they really get me inspired with the possibility of giving an object a new life and home, so I thought I would share with you some really cool ways to upcycle/repurpose those vintage finds.

Upcycled Jewelry Case - Repurposed Vintage Luggage Lid - Brown, Green - Repurposed Wine Corks - Eco Earth Friendly
This upcycled jewelry case  puts that old/broken suitcase
to good ( & mighty pretty) use.

Swoon over these: china plates upcycled into a cute wall art message and
can be purchased in abundance at op shops, garage and estate sales.

upcycling wine crates Upcycling: DIY shelves from old wine crates
I've been wanting to make some wooden crate shelving but
cant get my hands on crates...sob.
I just love them!

suitcase chair, katie thomspon, recycled suitcases, recycled materials, upcycled materias, samsonite suitcases, green chairs, recycled chairs, recycled seating design, diy
Check out this suitcase chair...genius!

'I Do'....it yourself.

I am excited to announce that I attended my very 1st wedding yesterday!!
(well...my first as a proper adult/non bridal party member)
Not everyone can afford the whole kit and kaboodle when it comes to the wedding day, but being on a budget doesn't mean you have to sacrifice style. And for all those crafty brides out there, DIY is half the fun of planning & the perfect way to make sure your day is tailored to you and your Mr.

Here a few inspirations for DIY wedding decor and if I had my day a different way, it would be as pretty as these!

Set up an area with a few different cameras, cute backdrop and even some kitschy props
(cue novelty moustache!) & voila...handmade snap station.
Polaroids are great keepers for the guests too.

Adorable & easy way to spruce up a paper lantern.
Get the full 'how to' here...diy-paper-lace-doily-lanterns

Yes mason jars have been done (again, again & again), but this lil' DIY will give
you that vintage feel for half the price.

Chalkboards can be used to welcome guests, display menu or even for guests to
scrawl their marriage advice on. Jump over to mydiyweddingday for some more budget friendly ideas.

Seed Favours are such a dear gift...eco friendly too!

love love LOVE this picnic wedding mood board I found over at goldenafternoontearoom.
 Absolutely delightful!

Doily Chair Decoration
I have a doily addiction, & these babies make such a sweet garland on an old wooden chair. elizabethannedesigns

I cant go past this 'Alice' style dessert buffet by libby james...yum!

Congrats Bree & Ryan on your beautiful day.

Meet frankie gusti.

Almost 2 years ago I became the the proud new owner of  my very own nephew, whom I lovingly nicknamed frankie gusti. (aka Archer)

I recently became a "Mrs" and after our looovely wedding and honeymoon, I checked back into reality.

I have dabbled with craft since way back. From jewellery making to paper craft, I learnt from my very talented, jack (or jill?) of all trades- my Mumsy. So back I went when the desire to sew hit.
I realised not only did I NEED a creative outlet but I WANTED a creative career.
TA-DA....'frankie gusti.'

These piccies were taken in the lead up to & at my first market.
I'll be at the Mulgrave Makers Market again on Sunday November 28th 8am-1pm. Along with many other fantastic crafters, including the lovely Eleesa from dorothybills.
Look forward to seeing you.

Stay cute.

Procrastination ended.....Welcome to frankie gusti.!

So I set this blog up almost 2 weeks ago but have only now built up the courage to post. After my first ever market and launch of 'frankie gusti.' on Sunday 24th October, I was full of motivation, inspiration and was SUPER eager to make my debut into the blog world.
With the amount of time I spend reading other blogs, I should have had a fair idea with where to start. But add panic, fear and a smidgen of shyness...and voila..'frankie gusti.' blog was collecting dust. I wont lie..procrastination and I are old friends, but the thought of having complete strangers (and maybe even worse...people I know) read my posts actually made me queasy.

But with plenty of time on my hands, due to a lame hamstring (look up the origin of the word 'hamstring' and that may help you to imagine how I feel right about now)

and as keen as ever to have a 'real' business label....I welcome you to' frankie gusti.'..whilst still swallowing the urge to baby sick.

So my purpose in starting this blog and joining the millions of other bloggers out there, is most likely the same as the other millions of bloggers...to share my creativity. I also hope that you are encouraged, motivated and inspired to create for yourself after visiting 'frankie gusti.'.

Stay cute.
